Who are we?

  Heidi van Eeden

 
I am the Director of Clarity Cost Management Limited, a quantity surveying consultancy dedicated to bringing clarity, fairness and strategic commercial oversight to construction projects.

Originally trained in civil engineering, I discovered my professional calling in contract law - a turning point that transformed me from a technical observer to a confident participant and leader.  I went on to complete my quantity surveying cadetship and, over the next 15 years, gained three additional qualifications in Construction Technology, Construction Economics and Management, and Dispute Resolution. Intentionally building deep commercial expertise from the ground up.

My career spans South Africa, Ireland and New Zealand, working across mines, residential developments, commercial high-rise and multi-use developments, community, infrastructure and major health facilities. I have worked on all sides of the industry - subcontractors, main contractors, design and build teams and consultancies - giving me a rare, whole-of-industry perspective. I continue to deepen and refresh this perspective through memberships with, AMINZ, ACICA, IOD, NZIQS, PMI, SCL and TLANZ. 

Today, I specialise in independent certification under NZS 3910:2023, commercial cost management, residential quantity surveying, and expert witness services in alternative dispute resolution processes and before New Zealand courts and tribunals.

I believe the construction industry earns greater respect when clarity replaces conflict.

Eden Mendoza

Hi, I’m Eden Mendoza, and I’m part of the team behind Clarity Cost Management.


I hold a degree in Business Administration and have over six years of experience in auditing and administrative work.

 I’m also a graduate of a vocational course in Bookkeeping, and I’ve completed training in Construction Cost Estimating 

and Management, as well as an Executive Assistant Mastery course.


My background allows me to help in administrative coordination, documentation, and internal support. With a keen eye for detail I ensure the business runs smoothly behind the scenes.  I assist with reviewing and reconciling records, organising reports, tracking internal projects, and supporting day-to-day operations. I also help prepare brochures, marketing materials, and conduct research when needed.


My goal is to ensure that processes are structured, outputs are accurate, and the team has the support they need to operate efficiently and confidently.

"I’m currently studying Quantity Surveying at AUT while working as a QS Cadet at Clarity Cost Management. After completing my second year of a Bachelor of Construction (Quantity Surveying), I’ve developed strong skills in measurement, cost estimating, and project planning, alongside experience using tools such as Revit and Excel.
